Celebrity Feature: Katie Holmes

Katie Holmes in Dawson's Creek tv showKatie Holmes had her first taste of Hollywood in Ang Lee's film The Ice Storm (1997). And after her film debut, she auditioned for a new tv show, Dawson's Creek (1998) and immediately got the part of Joey Potter. The tv show became a major hit, making Holmes and the rest of the cast the hottest teen celebrities of their generation.

During her first year with Dawson's Creek, Holmes appeared in Disturbing Behavior (1998) and won the award for Best Breakthrough Female Performance at the 1999 MTV Movie Awards. The following year, she appeared in Go (1999) and received her first lead role in Teaching Mrs. Tingle (1999). She next starred in films such as The Gift (2000), Abandon (2002), Phone Booth (2002), First Daughter (2004), and Batman Begins (2005), among others.

Holmes began dating one of Hollywood's biggest stars, Tom Cruise, in April 2005. She gave birth to their baby girl, Suri, on April 18, 2006. The couple exchanged vows in November 2006 in Italy, in a Scientology ceremony which was attended by many Hollywood celebrities.

TV Show Feature: Friends

cast of Friends tv showWho doesn't remember this highest rated tv show about a group of friends living in Manhattan? Of course, we all do remember them — Rachel, Ross, Monica, Chandler, Phoebe, and Joey. How we laugh at their wacky adventures and funny antics!

Created by David Crane and Marta Kauffman, and produced by Kevin S. Bright, Friends is an Emmy Award-winning American sitcom that was originally broadcast from 1994 to 2004 in over one hundred countries. For ten seasons, the tv show was a consistent top rater, even peaking the number one spot in tv rankings during its eight season.

No sitcom has surpassed the success of Friends. Even the popularity it brought to its celebrities — Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox Arquette, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, and David Schwimmer. Its final episode was even watched by an estimated US audience of 51.1 million. And up to now, it still continues to attract good ratings for its episodes in syndication.

Cast:

Jennifer Aniston as Rachel Green — a waitress for Central Perk who later gets a career in fashion management at Bloomingdale's and finally at Ralph Lauren.

Courteney Cox Arquette as Monica Geller — a neurotic chef.

Lisa Kudrow as Phoebe Buffay — an eccentric masseuse and musician.

Matt LeBlanc as Joey Tribbiani — a definite player and struggling actor who becomes famous for his role on Days Of Our Lives as Dr. Drake Ramoray.

Matthew Perry as Chandler Bing — an executive in statistical analysis and data reconfiguration. He later gets a job in advertising.

David Schwimmer as Ross Geller — Monica's older brother, a paleontologist working at a museum of Natural History and later a professor of paleontology at New York University.
